Internet organizing in the Time of Monsters

Internet organizing in the Time of Monsters
my cat and my pug puppy playing.

So I see a whole bunch of ideas, and back and forth, and moralizing about how people should and should not engage with the internet, and I thought that I would share how I move on the internet and how I decide where to spend and not spend my time. I have completely removed myself from Google, Meta, and Twitter. I personally couldn't justify being in those spaces any longer and whit the proliferation of AI through those sites it has solidified for me that I made the correct call (this isn't meant to shame in any way people who are still on those sites for whatever reasons they have). My hope is that as we make these constant migrations we begin to form collectives of people we travel in those spaces with, and begin or continue the process of sharpening each other ideologically.

This is a new weapon in the fight against Capital, but the rules we Marxist Leninists (its ok if you aren't, that's not the point of this writing, just an acknowledgement of where my mind is and methodological loyalties are) abide by still layer over it quite well, the basics of Educate, Agitate, and Organize still apply. Try not to ever get stuck trying to argue in bad faith with people who's whole identity is wrapped up in not ever understanding yours, Arguing isn't education, and we should be (myself very much included) very conscious of that as we move around. Being a part of the daily discourse unless it's pushing a revolutionary line is also something I try and avoid. Organizing isn't a big tent thing but instead should (again IMHO) be focused on finding comrades you feel comfortable moving with and trust.

Agitation is the big one because to my mind where we focus our energies and how we move across social media structures is vitally important to how we push this line. We are a loooooong way from a vanguard movement in this nation (unless some of y'all are moving in ways I don't see, in which case I'm very proud of y'all). The important thing (again I stress IMHO) to remember is that all revolutionary orgs started out small, and had to earn the trust of the people as Fidel Castro said "I began revolution with 82 men. If I had to do it again, I'd do it with 10 to 15 and absolute faith. It doesn't matter how small you are if you have faith and a plan of action"

So as you may or may not know I am with a collective known as Stopgenai.com and while we are not a Marxist Leninist group we move in ways that completely vibe with my understanding of it. We offer people guidance on how to avoid AI in your day to day life (it's way easier than you think). We also work to raise mutual aid funds for people who's lives have been negitiavly impacted by this, and I feel like this is a good litmus test for how serious people are about being revolutionaries or just reformists who like to cosplay and drape themselves in revolutionary rhetoric.

If you don't know if that's you or not, that's ok actually, as long as your goal is to keep pushing a revolutionary line, while being willing to stop and perform self criticism you're on the right path. This was never going to be easy and we are never going to see our views given mainstream coverage in any real way. That's ok and the coup says "they got the bombs and we got the people."
